On Sunday I was showered with love and support and wonderful wishes, and it was really awesome. So awesome, in fact, that I had to make up a new word: stellar-credible. It was a stellar-credible time. You know, like stellar + incredible.
First of all, a huge resounding round of applause to everyone who made the baby shower happen:
Thanks to Aunt Linda for hosting and providing food and refreshments!
Thanks to Aleksandra for planning and executing all the awesome activities!
Thanks to my amazing mom-and-sisters-in-law for providing some awesome decorations!
And thanks to everyone else who did anything at all – you are wonderful and amazing and stellar-credible beyond belief.
And now, with no further ado… pictures!
The theme of the shower was “Jungle,” based on Jolie’s nursery design (which doesn’t exist yet as we live in a 400 sq. ft. apartment, but… a girl can dream, right?). Props to Aunt Linda for finding DOPE decorations. 🙂
We kicked off the party with some good old-fashioned activities: up first, Guess Baby’s Arrival.
Major props to Aleksandra for the gorgeous layout.
Guests loved putting down an adorable stamp and signing their names on the day they think Jolie will arrive!
Up next: Midnight Diaper Decorating!
This was a big hit. The idea is to write something funny on the diaper so that I can read it while I’m up in the middle of the night elbow-deep in poo.
Aleksandra also designed these amazing “Wishes for Baby” cards for guests to fill out (Holler, girl. Holler).
And for the last pre-party activity: Parental Pick-Me Ups! Guests wrote advice and encouragement for Colson and I to read when we need it most.
Up next was present-opening time. Thanks to everyone for the incredible and adorable gifts! (I’m looking at you, Emily Longhofer).
Before opening presents, all my guests got one of these cute Bingo cards. They filled out what they thought I might get, then put down a game piece every time I opened a present they had written down.
Here’s the back of the bingo card – a little Owl baggie filled with “game pieces” (Sprees). I’m not going to toot my own horn or anything, but… I totally made these. Heh heh heh!
The first three people to get “Baby Bingo” got these prizes – baby bottles full of M&Ms. Because… chocolate. You know?
Up next was a big and awesome surprise – my uncle Mike showed up with Freddy’s burgers and fries, as a tribute to my major pregnancy cravings! THANK THE HEAVENS for cheeseburgers, am I right?
And then, we feasted (Strawberry).
And feasted some more (German Chocolate).
And finally, it was time to go – but not before everyone got their party favor tea bags!
Baby Girl, we are all SO excited to meet you.
But for now… keep on cooking!
