A Month of Mommyhood

Jolie’s one-month birthday was a week ago, and I still can’t BELIEVE I’ve been a mommy for a whole month.

Where does the time go?!

When J was born, she weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces. She was 19.5 inches long.

Now she’s 9 pounds, 7 ounces and 20.75 inches long.

(Why don’t they say ___ inches tall? I guess because babies can’t stand up?)

Before leaving the hospital, we dressed her in her “going home” outfit, which was absolutely huge on her. She SWAM in it:

NBoutfitnowGOODBut the most amazing change is in her darling little personality, which is actually starting to show:

“Ew mom, stahhhhp”
Sassy little Koala
“Ooooh, a koala…”
Buddha Baby
“I am judging you so hard right now.”
“What is this, a school for ANTS?!” (ten points for Gryffindor if you get that reference)
Bath time sassiness!
“I love baths as much as Kanye loves Kanye, mom.”

After just a month, she can hold her head up pretty well, follow us with her eyes, make faces at us (okay maybe she’s just farting), and roll onto her side.

Maybe this is one of those biased-mommy things, but I’m SO impressed with her.

To celebrate her first four weeks of life, here are my four favorite things about being a mommy:

  1. Morning snuggles
  2. Holding her against my chest
  3. Bath time!
  4. The little sounds she makes when she’s sleeping

What are your favorite things about parenthood? Or, what do you look forward to most about being a mommy/daddy?

  1. Kelsie, your captions are hilarious! Especially the Kanye one! And I can not believe how much she’s grown! Insane! She’s one cute little girl!

    1. I know – every morning, I look at her and think she looks completely different than the day before! Seeing your little boy’s month-by-month photos made me realize how much she’s going to change this year. It’s so much fun to watch. 🙂

  2. The koala is bigger than she is! My most favorite thing about parenthood…sooo hard to pin down. Mine are in their 20’s now. As of this moment; I love being loved by them. I love the bond we have. I love the sweet things they say and do for me. Capture all the moments…the time goes scary fast by. ❀❀❀

    1. The bond is so crazy! You just don’t know how strong it’ll be until you experience it. I can’t believe how much I’m capable of loving a little human I just met a month ago! Haha. Trying my hardest to savor every second because I can already see how quickly she’ll grow up. 🙂
